THE Young University Rankings, which has been published since 2012, includes the world's top universities aged 50 years and younger. The table is based on the same 13 performance indicators as the flagship THE World University Rankings, but the weightings have been adjusted to give less weight to reputation. The universities are judged across all their core missions – teaching (30%), research (30%), Citation (30%), international outlook (7.5%) and industry income (2.5%) – to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons available.

In a year dominated by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the appearance of UCI members in this rankings reflects a considerable role and influence of the UCI network globally in the community of young universities. This secures a steady background for UCI to recover from the crisis as well as reboot our network activities, projects aiming at boosting UCI connections, solidarity and scale.
