University Consortium International (UCI) Announces New Chairman, Term 2021-2023

 

Prof. Vaclav Snasel, Rector of Technical University of Ostrava (VSB - TU Ostrava, Czech) who previously launched his second term as the rector of VSB - TU Ostrava, became the Chairman of the University Consortium International (UCI) term 2021-2023, effective September 01.

As a distinguished scholar with extensive achievements in research, teaching and leadership, he had the vision for a series of major initiatives in developing international collaborations and fostering the partnerships that earned the trust of UCI's members and got nominated to be the next Chairman of UCI.

Prof. Vaclav Snasel is a significant and prominent scholar in the international academic and research community with more than 35 years of research career and management experience. His studies involved in multi-disciplinary areas including artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, information retrieval, knowledge management, machine intelligence, data mining, neural network, nature and biology, and in various real-world problems. In 2001, he worked as a researcher at the Institute of Computer Science of Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and was elected by the European Mathematical Society to the Electronic Publishing Committee in 2004. He also worked as the head of Knowledge Management Program at IT4Innovation National Supercomputing Center (Czech) and became the dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in VSB - TU Ostrava. In 2017, Prof. Vaclav Snasel was elected as the rector of VSB-Technical University of Ostrava and took the second term of office in 2021.
