Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Czech Republic
Tomas Bata University in Zlín (TBU, Czech Univerzita Tomáše Bati ve Zlíně), which is named after the world-famous shoe entrepreneur Tomáš Bata was established in January 2001 but students were studying here as early as in 1969. It is a public university comprising six faculties offering courses in technology, economics, humanities, arts and health care. The university is a center of top-class science and research in the Czech Republic - a central European country with a "continental" European social model, a universal health care system, tuition-free university education and ranked 14th in the Human Capital Index.
