All applications are first reviewed by the coordinating board and then passed on to the UCI General Conference for a final decision.

UCI offers two different membership categories. To be eligible for full membership or associate membership, an institution must:

Full member:  

Being a university-level entity accredited as such by its national jurisdiction and submit accordingly appropriate supporting documents; being recommended by at least 1 Full Member; 

Associate member:

The universities of good reputation in education, science and internationalization (recommended by any Full Member); agreement to be bound and to abide by the Statute; submission of the official application to the Consortium.

• Signing an agreement to be bound and to abide by the Statute;
• Being an institution of good reputation in education, science and internationalization ranked in TOP 10 best universities in their country and/or listed in TOP 500 universities in the world by THE (The Times Higher Education World University Rankings) at the time of application and recommendation. When UCI has built its own ranking indicators, applicant institutions shall be reviewed up to those criteria.
